Clifford L. Heaslip, Jr.

Clifford Leslie Heaslip Jr. peacefully died January 19, 2018 at Memorial Hospital, Savannah, GA after a very brief illness. He was born on March 29, 1927 in Yonkers, NY to Clifford and Frances Heaslip and graduated from Roosevelt High School. He served in the Army as part of the occupation forces in Paris and graduated from Colgate University in 1950, where he was a member of Sigma Chi, leader of the Colgate 13, and member of Konosioni Honor Society. He married Meredith Jones of Bradley Beach NJ in 1951. Upon graduation he was employed by Sealright Packaging Company, where he worked for 31 years, eventually becoming manager of the international sales division, which required that he travel extensively in Europe and South America. He had a lifelong commitment to Colgate University and was involved in many alumni activities. He was president of the Alumni Association, received a Maroon Citation in 1974, and was given the Alumni Award for Distinguished Service in 1981. For the last 10 years of his professional life he was senior development officer for Colgate University. Before retirement he lived in Monmouth and Bergen counties in New Jersey, and moved to The Landings in Savannah Georgia upon retirement in 1993. He was an avid tennis and golf player and enjoying traveling throughout the world with his wife, Meredith. He recently moved to The Marshes and remained active in every way. He was pre-deceased by his baby daughter, Donna, in 1958, and by his sister, Frances Zinchak. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Meredith, his daughter Leslie Wengenroth and her husband, Ray, his son Jeff Heaslip and his wife Helen, his son Neal, and his brother Harold Heaslip and his wife, Mary Anne. He enjoyed spending time with his 7 adoring grandchildren and 3 great-children, his wife, and his many friends. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held on Saturday, Feb. 10 at 11:00 AM at the Skidaway Island United Methodist Church. Donations in his memory can be made to Colgate University, 13 Oak Drive, Hamilton, NY 13346.
